St. John’s High School Glee Club

Picture
Biography
The St. John’s High School Glee Club is comprised of diverse high school students who have found one thing in common—a love for singing. Ranging from freshmen to seniors, the group performs an array of genres consisting of classical, gospel and contemporary songs under the direction of Arlene Chua, head of St. John’s Science department, who is also an active member of Magis. Glee Club members, who come from different backgrounds and have distinctive talents and personalities, nevertheless find their love of music to be the common thread that holds them together. For the past years, Glee Club has participated in numerous school activities, and engaged in diverse community events, such as the Guam Territorial Band Anniversary Concert and Interfaith Chapel. It has also competed and won awards in Tumon Bay Music Festival, 1st International Pacific Choral Festival, and Guam Chamber of Commerce Song Festival. This group also recently had the honor of being invited to sing at Lincoln Center to participate in the Distinguished Concerts International New York. Having previously participated in the Tumon Bay Music Festival, St. John’s School Glee Club hopes to bring that same sense of energy and camaraderie to all its audiences. Lastly, “By its very definition, Glee is about opening yourself up to joy.” – Lillian Adler
