Welcome to the TBYO Japan Tour 2025 Central Page. We invite musicians of all ages to join the Guam/Saipan Delegation which will travel to Japan from August 3 to 11, 2025. Dubbed Hands Across the Sea 2025, the tour welcomes musicians of all ages and experience levels from Guam and Saipan who are able to play the exchange program music to participate. With limited space for up to 44 participants, performing musicians will be prioritized with family members (especially those who can play with the ensemble) permitted to participate, subject to seating space.

HISTORY
In 2013, leaders of the Gamagori Junior Band from the Aichi Prefecture met with the leadership of the Guam Territorial Band to establish a sister city-like musical friendship between the two Bands. The concept was for each Band to visit each other and present concerts in the spirit of musical friendship and cultural exchange to encourage mutual understanding in our polarized world. From 2013 to 2018 during the month of August, Japan has visited Guam during the odd number years and Guam visited Japan during the even number years. In August 2019, Japan visited Saipan with a delegation from Guam also participating.
During the COVID-19 global pandemic, this international friendship exchange program experienced a hiatus; no music festivals were held involving Guam or Saipan from 2020 to 2024.
In August 2025, the City of Gamagori is excited to welcome a delegation from Guam, Saipan and Malaysia to restart this important musical exchange program.
