Dr. Jerry R. Castro, M.D., is a board-certified otolaryngologist (E.N.T surgeon), who subspecializes in head and neck cancer surgery. Raised in Yona, he graduated from George Washington High School in 1983 and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from the University of Guam in 1988. His journey continued with a full U.S. Navy scholarship, culminating in a medical degree from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland, in 1994.
Dr. Castro's expertise expanded through his work as a Flight Surgeon serving with the U.S. Marine Corps and subsequent ENT residency at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego. He then pursued fellowships in Head and Neck Oncologic Surgery at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, NY, and Microvascular Reconstructive Surgery of the Head and Neck at Beth Israel Medical Center, also in NYC. Dr. Castro's impactful career involved key roles as a Staff Head and Neck Surgeon at various military hospitals, including the US Naval Hospital Guam, US Naval Hospital Okinawa, and the National Naval Medical Center/Walter Reed Washington D.C. Dr. Castro retired from the United States Navy achieving the rank of Commander (O-5) after 21 years of faithful service. Since 2014, Dr. Castro has operated his private practice, Guam E.N.T., reflecting his unwavering commitment to his island. Beyond his medical pursuits, Dr. Castro's passion for music, particularly the drums, originated during his time at Agueda Johnston Middle School. His involvement with the Guam Territorial Band during high school paved the way for participation in various local bands, including Ciano, Beest, and Magik. |
