Amanda Brooke Bateman
… is the daughter of Kenneth and Deanne Bennett Bateman of Elizabeth City, North Carolina. Her first exposures to music were in church and while in elementary school, where she saw a performance of the Northeastern High School Jazz Ensemble. Following the footsteps of her older sister Emily, and encouragement from her singer father, Amanda joined the middle school band where she started learning the alto saxophone. While in high school she joined the historic Northeastern High School Symphonic Band where she learned the oboe. She kept her sax chops while also playing with the school jazz ensemble. She rose through the student leadership ranks and attained the positions of chief majorette of the school marching band auxiliary.

In July 2014, she joined the Guam Territorial Band on their award-winning tour of Australia which included a performance at the famous Sydney Opera House. Because of these experiences, she pursued a degree in music after high school with aspirations to one day teach in Guam.
